Hi Bye March 2009

Its the Princesses and a new friend at the lounge.. Yesterday we had a Hi Bye piss up at the base to welcome the new batch of people joining our 425th SQN and also a farewell dinner for the old guys returning to Singapore.. I'm suppose to be one of the old guys here but we were offered an extension of 6 months therefore you're still seeing me, (the old guy) amidst the crowd..

We were supposed to be having a great time at the lounge singing away while some of the guys were playing pool and some smoking their lungs out, until our great time ended quite unexpectedly and in my case angrily.
Jerin was halfway through singing one of the song from FIR and some guy went to cancel her song.. He came over to our table and "apologize" that it was accidental and wanted to drink from Jerin's bottle of beer as an apology..
Forget about that song, he then went back to the area where we choose songs and deleted all of the other songs that we had selected.. What a crude man!!! So old already still don't know what "No manners" mean..
Cancel never mind, he then went ahead and choose some lousy Korean MV and its really getting on my nerve lor..
.
.
.
IF YOU WANT TO WATCH MV, THERE'S A THING CALL YOUTUBE WHERE YOU CAN WATCH IT FOR FREE..
.
.
He's not even watching the MV.. OR U CAN JUST ROT IN SOME TOILET CUBICLE AND LISTEN TO YOUR KOREAN SONGS ON MP3..
.
.
Grrrrrr....it's Korean lor and you don't even understand a single word of it..

I don't know

I happen to came across this picture and remembered the time when this movie was aired in the Harkins Cinema at Mcdowell about a year ago.. We went for a movie with a batch of guys from the sqn and saw this poster. Boon said that this picture of Jet Li looks like Eric.. I believe so and even Eric himself thinks so too.. So I thought maybe I could look up the photos of Eric and see if I can find any with the similar facial expression..

and this is the best match that I found.. How is it? I think there's 80% similarity.. =)

While looking back at all the old pictures, from the one we took at New York to Sedona, I came across some of the photos that we took when we reached Arizona 2 years ago.. I'm feeling abit stressful now as I'm not sure if I should have ever started on this post..

I saw this "old photo" that we took in the beginning..

dated: May 2007

As I was looking at some of the photos that I took with her, suddenly a gust of sadness overpowered me.. Why did we ruin this 2 years when we could have lived in harmony? I was upset and angry that I took down all the photos that we took together that I posted in the friendster.. I couldn't bear to see the sight of her again.. I didn't know what had I done to make her say those harsh words in my presence.. And all the things that we did to each other ever since that day.. I do not want to elaborate any further what really happened.. In anger, we do things to hurt each other thinking that it would make us feel better.. But I don't think I've feel any better all these while. I'm not sure if she did feel better.. Maybe she did??

Anyway this Saturday is coming soon. I just want to wish her goodbye and have a safe flight..

maybe you might be laughing your ass off me.. or maybe you're feeling as sad as I am??

We're not just pretty vase, we cook

We, the Princesses from the princess gang are not just pretty vase to look at.. We make our time here enjoyable by meeting up at the HQ to improve our culinary skills. Coming up with tasty food for our families.. If you were lucky and happen to have lunch with our hubbies, you might also get to sample our food, if there is extra, that is to say.. If not, just enjoy looking at the pictures and maybe you'll get to taste them in your dreams..

Shirley bought Kang kong in Vegas Oriental market and "donated" to us since she's not cooking it and it has been in her fridge for awhile. Sheena then went to stir-fry it with cuttlefish and her dad's chilli.. The leaves were somehow not very fresh anymore so I plucked them all off..

Last week we finally prepared all the necessary ingredients for our popiah,. So today I suggest to make them just in case the ingredient goes bad. We added fried bean curd in the turnip. Had bean sprouts blanched in hot water, eggs, shredded crab sticks and grounded peanuts.

Not bad right? We call it the $1.20 hawker standard popiah.. But still it's very tasty.. Really but you wouldn't know until you tasted it.

We made teochew pancakes (TP).. Let me enlighten you if you still have no idea what this is.. Usually you'll find these TP at pasar malam. In the filling we have marinated minced pork, fresh prawn, Chinese seaweed and spring onion topped with silver anchovies and peanuts, deep fried in hot oil. Clever Sheena found the flour and jio us to make them together.. Even Ah Liao also left a message in her facebook and asked what kind of flour did she used.

Shirley saw the meesiam that I made while I was back home and requested me to make it again.. How can I ever reject a pregnant woman who is also my good friend here in Arizona.. However I was too greedy and added too much assam in the water and it became very sour.. I told them not to drink the gravy but Jermaine still finish it anyway.. I hope she didn't get sore throat the next day..

Curry fish that Sheena and I made together.. Both of us had never attempt this before however we were very satisfied with our result.. It's the best curry fish I've ever imagine.. Liew who was down with a fever couldn't resist our curry. So you can imagine how good it is.. Even my hubby who isn't very picky with food but can taste a good food from a bad one says that it is delicious..

Lapis sago that I've made multiple times in Arizona.. But this is the 1st time I made it for my princesses..

It's a busy sunny day

Heeee, I'm an "illegal immigrant" no more.. Renew my ID and driver license as hubby was given an off day today.. We had to trouble Sheena to drive us to the base to make new ID, then MVD for new driver license.. I woke up early to put some makeup on.. You can call me vain but I don't care.. I have been carrying an ID with an ugly photo of myself for the past 2 years and this is my 4th driver license.. So die die also have to make sure that I'm getting something nice to keep..

FYI, we have extended our stay in the States till Sept this year. We are suppose to end our contract this March.. Hence the need to renew our cards.

After the busy day running around the neighbourhood, we then proceed to LeeLee oriental market to replenish our fridge and buy some food that we've planned to cook this week.. This is my 1st attempt at making curry fish with Sheena, and the taste is so good, nobody can tell that its from someone who has never make one before.. Moey had 3 bowls of rice, Sheena and hubby had 2 bowls each and I had one..
Poor Liew was sick and Shirley already had a busy day in the morning so she couldn't join us for dinner.. But both of us were so kind hearted so we dabao some curry fish and also cuttlefish with kangkong for her.. Shirley say its nice and it has her mom's taste. Even her hubby who was sick also couldn't resist our curry fish.
While at the table during the dinner, I joked that Sheena and I should open a stall selling Curry Fish and maybe we will get some Singapore NiceFOOD award or U channel GoodEat award.. =) Sounds good isn't it..

Happy birthday Sheena!!

Weeks before Sheena's 23rd birthday, Our big princess Shirley had already emailed me about the surprise for our girl of that day. I took charge of buying the cake preferably something with Hello Kitty.. When I returned to Arizona, I began searching for the birthday cake.. When to check out Commissory, Walmart and Cold Stone but didn't find anything that is really nice.. So I thought maybe I can bake her one.. Then....... read the previous post to know what happen..

We planned to meet at my place at 11am and once everyone is here, we will marched to our HQ which is just across my house.. Shirley had already coordinate with Moey to make sure that they are already awake.. So Moey opened the door for us, haha Sheena is in the shower so we hide in the front room. Waited for about 10 min and she's still in the shower, so we asked Moey to check out the situation.. He went into the room and came out, Sheena is already out.. So we stormed into her bedroom and gave her a surprise.. Hah, birthday girl is wearing her contact lens..

Happy birthday girl. I hope you won't feel lonely celebrating your birthday in AZ.. Maybe it's not as happening as those that you had in Singapore, but still I wish that you will be cheerful and enjoy your stay in here..

Cutting her birthday cake.

Another one..

And the happy Moey family.

The birthday cake story and Davis

I wanted to make a cake for Sheena 23rd birthday using fondant which I am so not familiar with. The show, Ace of cake on food network, make it seems so easy to use. So I've decided to try it out myself..

Even baked the cake.. Borrowed the cake tin and parchment paper from Shirley. I got up early on Saturday morning and started baking..

In the end I couldn't bear to see Sheena blowing the candle on an ugly fondant cake, so I went to bought her one instead.. The auntie that wrote those words spelled her name wrongly.. I told her the spelling and she repeated to me, but still got it wrong.. And angmos, they always make it seems like its no big deal.. All the time..

This is Davis sleeping on the floor cause he was crying and acting naughty, so I didn't bother to entertain him, after a short while there was some silence. When I peek into the room, he was fast asleep.. Clever boy sure know how to make himself comfortable.. Using his M&M beanie as a pillow..

The weight issue

I get people asking me if I went on a diet while I was back in Singapore for that month or so.. I must be out of my mind if I really did that. How can I ever resist the temptation after being so food deprived for 2 years..

I've received a few comments from friends here saying that I have lost weight and asked me how is that possible. I told them that I did not went on any diet and even ate more than what I did when I was in the States. The answer is simple. I exercise unknowingly!! I kangaroo my 10kg to and fro my grandma home.. From Yishun, I had to take an express bus to Tampines interchange and then from there I had to take another bus to Bedok.. Although I always get a seat, I still had to walk from my home to the bus-stop, and from another bus-stop to my grandma's home.. Under the humid weather, the perspire that I had in a single day is more than what I had in the States 2 years together..

I am glad that I'm only 2kg away from my desired goal!! Ganbatte

Promoting a new food eatery

You guys should really try out this place located along Dysart road, near the Gold Gym and Fresh and Easy.. A new eating place, Eest Chinese bistro that was newly open.. The place had fine decoration and the staffs were polite.. In my opinion, the food they served were great.. Though you still find the local fare most probably catered to the ang mo's palate. However I was surprised to find them serving 2 of our dishes on sizzling hotplate, just like the Singapore style.. How pleasant.. The waitress came over and....

Waitress, "Is everything ok? How the food?"
Kelvin Ang, "It's awesome, I like it"

The restroom, according to Jerin was very clean and the lights were dim and atmosphere was good.. I had to experience it for myself of course, and true to her word.. It is.. Maybe they didn't had that many customers since they were sort of located at a "remote" area and yesterday was a Saturday.. It was really very very quiet.. That's pretty sad..

We ordered 4 dishes and 2 other that were free with the coupons.. If you do not have any coupons, it is totally OK. Because you still get 20% off under the military discount!! But of course if you're using coupons then there's no further discounts..

So in summary, if you order anything $15 and above, you'll get to order a dish for free
$25 and above you can order 2 dishes for free..

If you don't have coupons, you'll get 20% military discount on your bill.

They also have some other lunch promotions.

As usual, you can get free flow of sodas if you order them..
They also serve us some kind of fried crackers while waiting for our food.. FREE!!
And after having our dinner, they still gave us complementary ice-cream to share..
The ice-cream are great.. Served with caramelise banana, some whipped cream and chocolate love letter.. Slurp

The damage for the day? Only $68!! Can you believe it? We have 8 adults with us.. 6 dishes and 6 sodas..
And the best part, they didn't even charge us the 18% service charge when you came with a group of 8 or more..

I left the place full and satisfied. You should try out the Eest experience yourselves..

And please tell your friends and friend's friends.. Cause I'm afraid that they might close down due to the poor business hence I'm writing this post for them.. Check your mailbox peeps

A mom gonna do what a mom gonna do.

God is faithful, God is kind. He listens and remembers my prayer.. I had safely arrived in Arizona.. I'm very glad that the whole experience wasn't that bad... In fact I can hardly say that it was bad.. My plane took me from SIN to NRT which was about 7.5hr, then from NRT to LAX another 9hr+ and lastly from LAX to PHX which is another 1hr+..

I had to kangaroo my 10+kg baby and carried a haversack containing mainly his supplies.. He did behave himself and even slept for hours.. Thank God. I was able to catch some rest myself.

If you think that this is no big deal, it's ok, because I'm talking about myself anyway.

The best part was during the flight from NRT to LAX, I asked a crew how many more hours to our destination, and she told me about 4hr+ to go.. I was elated as I had no idea at all that its only 9hr+ from NRT to LAX. In my mind I was prepared for a 16hrs flight.. muhahahaaaa..

Upon reaching LAX airport, I had to clear custom again, joined the queue which is super long.. Collected my luggage and tugging it, don't forget my 10+kg baby and a probably 4kg haversack to another terminal.. Joined the queue again to check-in my luggage. Went through the scanning again and finally found a cafe for a drink.. Bought a bottle of Pepsi for USD$3.75.. Had a few sip and called Laogong Baobei for the 5th time.. heehee.. I missed his voice and I can't stopped myself from calling him and waking him up again.. Finally I can use my HP.. Went to search for my gate and was totally off cause I went to the wrong wing.. At last I found it and sat there for a rest.. Heard the PA system calling for passenger KOH, that's me.. Went over to check whats the problem and the check-in staff told me I couldn't have the seat that was given to me previously as I was carrying an infant. Had my seat changed which I didn't care at all..

My 2nd best part happened at the boarding area in the LAX airport.. The check-in staff said that its about 1hr 30min to PHX!!! I could have shout out for joy... I can't believed that I'm only less than 2hrs to seeing my hubby.. The main reason was that I didn't had a watch with me and I can't turn on my HP on flight, I didn't know how many hours had past and I didn't had friendly neighbours beside me that I could have ask them the time..

For short, I am so proud with myself and ahbachang..

I Love Us..

I assure you, It's some nice baby photo you wouldn't want to miss

Cousin said that she bought a balloon kind of plaything for babies and since I was there with Davis, she asked if I want to let Davis played it in.. Cousin couldn't find the pump and both of us had to blow it up with our mouth.. I was literally out of breathe.
There must be something in the water.. hmm..

Started to make some noise so I took a few toys for them to play with.

Davis with his ever cute cheeky face, wanting to grab my camera

Bin Bin Gor Gor and Le Le Di Di..

Splashing the water all over the kitchen floor..
Cousin Sharon, third aunt and my mom in the background.

It's yummy Yum Yum!! Korean BBQ

I got very lucky, third aunt said that she want to bring me for some nice Korean food.. They were here before so now we're back again at this Korean BBQ restaurant at the Esplanade..

A table full of appetizer.. We didn't order them, it comes with it.. But I'm not sure if they're free.
Real charcoal, see

We had seafood omelette

Some pork dish..

Some dunno what chicken.. It's nice..

I like this the most.. The original fatty pork.. Actually I detest the very porky smell of un-marinated pork, however this one has win me over..

And you wrap it up with the free flow of fresh lettuce topped with the appetizer and Voila!! You've got Korean Charcoal grilled BBQ.
Even little kid like it too..

Not that good not that bad

I signed up a package with CITIspa and went for my 1st session last week.. There's a promotion going on that day at the Baby fair at Expo and I sign up for a 10 treatment with them.. The Bao saleswoman told me it's their special promotion during the fair and I won't be able to get the same deal at their outlets, with no expiry date and only $38 per treatment, I was really tempted.. But when she presented me with the recipt, it was $406.60 as I still had to pay GST and she didn't tell me before that. Sian, mo twui twui, I had to pay an extra of $26.60.. Then nevermind, I went to the CITIspa at Northpoint and saw the big advertisement board that says $38 per treatment!! For their new outlet.. For a brief moment, I felt cheated.. Cannot believe in Bao people.. Angry!!

My 1hr body treatment is inclusive of a 15 min in the steam bath

30 min of back massage

and 15 min in the jacuzzi..
Their usual price is $188 exclusive of GST but I was able to enjoy the treatment for only $40+.. Out of 5 stars, I would rate it a 3.5.. As I find nothing really fantastic in the back massage, because it's really only back massage, they didn't even do my arms or legs.. But maybe it's only 30 min for the massage, so I couldn't complain.. And only for $40+, who cares..

I thought maybe I should make use of my package before I return to Arizona, so I made an appointment with them for a facial in the same week.. Facial was not that bad. As predicted, during the facial itself, they began to hard sell me with their extra services.. The saleswoman said that she noticed my abdomen was kinda bloated and asked if I wanted to have a body treatment while I'm having my facial.. Listen le very sian lor. Of course I declined la.. Bloated or not I know myself.. Then after the facial, I was given a cup of ginger tea and the hard selling started again.. I simply told her I used to work in this line before and I have tons of products sitting at home.. Hope they will remember me and not use this same tactic again..

Sian

Tomorrow will be the day I'll end the trip to Singapore and return to Arizona.. Very stressful as this is my 1st time boarding the plane myself with Davis in tow.. I feel so sick in my stomach and I can almost feel the intestines tangling themselves together..

I'm really scare!!
I'm not sure if I have enough milk formula with me
I hope that I won't be stranded in the airport like my sis-in-law did
I cannot imagine carrying Davis throughout the whole journey and I think that my arms will break
I'm scare that he will pooped in the plane
I hope that the flight isn't that full so that I can switch seats
I don't know if I'll be able to sleep at all
I'm worried that the immigration officer will ask me alot of questions and I'll be so tongued tied that I lost my words
I hope they don't serve me cup noodles again as I can imagine Davis spilling it and scald himself
I'm afraid that he will cry or fall sick or misbehave

I don't like to be in this situation at all!!!

Dear Abba, I pray that you will help me to overcome my fears. That Davis will be good baby on board. Please bless us with good weather with no turbulence and no rain.. Let all our flights to Phoenix be smooth sailing and protect us from all harms and dangers.. In your name I pray.. Amen

Dedicated to my FIL =)

I think man like my father-in-law are rare species.. I hope I hope very very sincerely that Eric has possess some of the qualities from his dad.

My father-in-law wakes up very early in the morning, while everyone are still in their deepest slumber, he goes to the market and buy breakfast for us. Like this morning, he bought me 3 pieces of the peanut pancake when I told him I only want 2. (in the end I only ate 1) And in addition, he bought another piece of red bean pancake so that I can have more variety..

He also bought home a packet of fried beehoon and a fried noodles and waited for my mother-in-law to wake up to see which packet she prefer before he dig into the least preferred choice. And he didn't just did that today, he does it everyday! Always different food every morning..

Dad, "There's beehoon and noodles, you can have them if you want."
Me, " It's okay, I only want the pancake."
Dad, "Not sure what Mom feels like having today, I'll let her have her pick."
Me, "You haven't had your breakfast?" (It's already 11+a.m, I just woke up and my mother-in-law is still in bed)
Dad, "Nevermind, I can eat later."

Sometime in the night, Davis would wake up for feeding, and my father-in-law will help me to feed him so that I can sleep.. That includes the morning feeding as well.. So touched..

Yesterday I was having a drink by the kitchen window and I couldn't help but noticed the many cans of empty drink in the dustbin..

By default, I was born into this world with a dislike for plain water, so my father will always buy me cans of green tea, pepsi, and chrysanthemum.. All stored in the fridge waiting to be drank.. How wonderful to have such a caring and helpful father-in-law.. And canned drinks are very heavy lor. Imagine he has to buy and carry them every few days..

I can still remember years ago he would always buy me fresh coconuts just because I like it..

Moments ago, he asked me if I want to have some instant noodles as he is going to cook some. I told him no but then I thought that maybe I will be hungry later in the night so I went to cook some myself.. My sis-in-law came out of her room and say she want to have a bite of her dad's noodles.. So she ate la, then my father-in-law say because she ate so much (not a bite, mind you), he want to cook another packet.. So nice.. He is the one that want to eat noodles but ended up letting us have it first..

And also majority of the housework are done by him..

Few days ago, I told them that I wish I can "shipped" my father-in-law with me to Arizona. Haha.. I wish!!
